So yeah, something that isn't a sketchbarf. Not really, that is.

Azryel and his Mandrills are cool, and also I have the turquoise ink. C:
Painting/inking/whatever on this paper I used should not be and I should stop doing it, because this paper might as well be rice paper. Too fragile for what I'm doing. But I do it anyway. I TORTURE MYSELF DO NOT DO AS I DO.

So this like took 2 days 'cuz I'm bored. Azryel ends up w/ his rabies virus after some epic fight w/ a mandrill like creature that has also taken in the virus successfully. Thus they both become the 'ideal hosts' and are kept alive eternally. Azryel kind of keeps to himself and his biological studies so he can be a bit of a jerk w/o meaning it. His unintentional jerkness also derives from being overly existential, which also causes him mild depression.
He isn't too well-liked, being seen as 'a bit odd and moody'.
Those who do know him well think otherwise.
Where his ears should be are metal plates of a gold alloy in the shape of pentose.
See, he IS odd. He gets all giddy over planarians too. FREAK LOL



:lol:About that ink... my mom and I went to University Art (huge awesome art store) and some drunk guy w/ a cast on his arm came stumbling in and was like "I LIKE ART" then he said "I LIKE VAN GOGH BETTER THAN YOU GUYS"
sooo we got the ink, a new sketchbook and the one guy working there escorted us to the car. I HAVE MACE AND A KILLER PUNCH SO YEAH.

i am so happy you are safe and away from van gogh crazies! i bet he went behind a dumpster to slice off his own ear afterward too...perhaps inspiration for this mans ear-less-ness? only in part right?

i love this blue teal blue! all streaking downward like the ocean in a drain. you make me want to work in blues i never work in blues but your inky styles make me melt :heart: i think you must be part squid, part squid ink pasta. he certainly looks moody even without your back story i think he is someone to be wary of and not talk too loud in case he has a headache :giggle:

Ehehe I love the turquoise, it's Sennelier brand in case you want to buy it. All their colours are fantabulouse. My next fav would have to be sanguine.
8D Omg you nailed the headache part, he gets 'em alot and he often does look like he has one. That's why when his retard buddy Petrel (the gas guzzler) takes him to a bar or something Azryel freaks.

This is quite possibly one of my favourite shades of blue... it's enlivening while still maintaining that solemn note that all blues seem to carry.

Your treatment of his armour-like shoulder blades is the first thing that I noticed, and I think it's a very creative venture :nod: Love the drape-like flow and composition to the bottom half of the frame as well.

Overall, I dig :heart:
